My connection with Hannah stretches back more than twenty years, to when she babysat our then four-year-old son.
What a joy it has been to come full circle over these past four years when I began learning Yemima with Hannah - now Rav Hannah.

Yemima invited me into another way of knowing
more embodied, more spacious
through its distinctive rhythm of
learning and re-learning texts…
visiting and revisiting ideas…
discovering and re-discovering insights…
each return revealing another layer of awareness,
another quiet deepening of understanding.
For me, Yemima resonates deeply with my love of African music
with rhythms continuing in ongoing cycles,
sometimes sounding repetitive to ears more attuned to Western classical music,
and yet, when we listen closely to the interwoven cross-rhythms,
new patterns continually emerge,
and the familiar becomes new.
Learning Yemima has unfolded for me not so much as a hero's journey,
moving steadily toward a destination,
but as a heroine's journey
a circular path of returning,
of visiting and revisiting,
of spiraling inward and outward,
welcoming missteps as part of the journey,
each return inviting a deeper awakening.
And what a gift it has been to learn Yemima within Rahmana
a community Rav Hannah has lovingly conceived and nurtured.
